52nd Street Project Retreat
This past weekend I went away with the 52nd Street Project on a playwriting retreat for their upcoming show “Apples and Oranges.” This marks my fifth show with the project, three for writing and now two for directing/dramaturging. It was also my second time back to Stone Ridge, NY, which I was really excited about since I had such great memories from the last time I was up there. Instead of writing out a detailed account of the weekend, I thought I’d keep it simple and let a few photos and Facebook statuses paint a picture for everyone. If you want to know more about my experiences with the project, read my Public Theater blog post.
“I’m in a mini-van heading upstate and the conversation is all about Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. I have nothing to contribute to this conversation.” Nov 9
“I am now in a beautifully rustic country house enjoying a bottle of wine with four intelligent, compassionate adults and we are talking about…Miley Cyrus.” Nov 9
“After a day of dramaturging new plays, the adults sat around a table full of wine, crackers, fresh apples and four types of cheese, paired with an engaging conversation about…Miley Cyrus.” Nov 9
“On our way back to the city, I reflect on the amazing pages our young playwrights shared today. It was a great way to end an equally amazing weekend of laughter, bonding, writing, and food. And then Miley Cyrus comes on the radio…” Nov 10
